COLCHESTER United say they are delighted with the business they have done in the January transfer window.

The U's made ten new signings during last month's window, including three on deadline day.

Tyreik Wright, Camron Gbadebo and goalkeeper Sam Hornby all signed for Colchester before last night's 11pm deadline.

They followed John Akinde (pictured below), Tom Dallison, Cameron Coxe, Corie Andrews, Emyr Huws, Owura Edwards and Myles Kenlock in joining the U's, in January.

Colchester's head of first-team recruitment Steve Ball said: "I think we've got strength in depth now and great options all over the pitch.

"Everyone can see the impact that the likes of Dallison, Kenlock and Emyr Huws have had.

"John Akinde is going to be an excellent signing for us, Owura Edwards showed little bits when he came on last Saturday.

"So to also bring in Sam Hornby, Camron Gbadebo and Tyreik Wright, I think it's been an absolutely brilliant window."

Colchester also held onto their prize assets, with the likes of Brendan Wiredu, Shamal George and Noah Chilvers all staying put.

However, Frank Nouble was allowed to move to Leyton Orient on loan until the end of the season.

Earlier last month, Sylvester Jasper and Jake Turner returned to Fulham and Newcastle United respectively, following the end of their loan spells.

And experienced left-back Charlie Daniels departed the U's by mutual consent.
