COLCHESTER United have signed winger Owura Edwards on loan from Championship club Bristol City until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has spent the first half of this season on loan at the U's League Two rivals Exeter City, where he played 16 times.

He came on as a late substitute for Exeter in the U's 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Grecians, last November.

The young attacker made three league starts for Exeter, during his time at St James Park.

Edwards started his career at Newport County and spent time on loan at Mangotsfield United, before joining Bristol City in the summer of 2019.

He made his first-team debut for the Robins against Millwall in January, 2021 and has gone on to play on three further occasions for them, to date.

Since joining Bristol City, he has had loan spells at Bath City and Grimsby Town, in addition to Exeter.

Edwards becomes Colchester's fifth signing of the transfer window, following Tom Dallison, Cameron Coxe, Corie Andrews and Emyr Huws in linking up with the club in January.

He is in line to make his U's debut when they take on Sutton United in League Two, tomorrow night.
