Rubble and rock debris on the roads have caused major disruption for rush hour commuters.
The A12 is closed between junction 25 at Marks Tey and junction 26 at Colchester due to an incident involving a shed load of debris falling onto the road.

A national traffic delays website has said that the road is not expected to be cleared until 6.45pm at the earliest.
It is also being reported that congestion is backed up for six miles, causing a thirty-minute delay on the normal journey time for A12 commuters.
