COLCHESTER United boss Hayden Mullins admits he has some tough choices to make ahead of their home clash with Bristol Rovers tonight.

The U's entertain the Pirates on the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 triumph over Harrogate Town, last weekend.

Sylvester Jasper is pushing for a start on the back of his winning goal, after coming off the bench.

And with the likes of skipper Tommy Smith and Armando Dobra also hoping for recalls, head coach Mullins knows he has some difficult decisions, ahead of the League Two clash.

Mullins said: "We have a selection headache but that's what we want - 100 per cent.

"If the boys do what the likes of Sylv (Jasper) and Samson (Tovide) did and Junior (Tchamadeu) who came into the team and took their chances, it makes it really tough for me.

"But that's what I want - I want players to come in and hit the ground running and really give me a headache."

Colchester are hoping to chalk up back-to-back wins for the first time this season tonight.

The U's are currently 19th in the table but could rise as high as 13th with a victory.

"We'll try and build some real momentum," said Mullins.

"It's early on in the season, we know that but I think the boys can gain a lot of confidence from the Harrogate win.

"The camp are a little bit more confident and more buoyant and we haven't got to try and lift them.

"It makes the job a lot easier and we can really go into the game looking forward to it.

“Away from home, we’ve looked really solid and we want to transfer that to our home form.

“We also wanted to try and be a threat on the opposition’s defence and really put them under pressure and I thought we did that (against Harrogate)."

Colchester face a Bristol Rovers side who lie in 16th place - a point above the U's having played one game more.

Joey Barton's side played out a creditable 2-2 draw at Bradford City, last weekend.

Mullins added: "Bristol Rovers are a tough side - we know what they bring and we know the quality that they've got.

"We know that it'll be a tough game.

"Joey (Barton) has turned it around a little bit with them.

"They had a little bit of a sticky patch but in recent weeks, they've really turned it around.

"They drew on Saturday and I think it'll be a tough game."
