NEW Colchester United signing Sylvester Jasper has vowed to put on performances for the fans after joining on loan from Fulham until January.

The U’s have boosted their attacking options with the capture of Jasper, ahead of the new League Two season.

Speaking to Col U TV, Jasper said: “This season, me and my coaches discussed that playing time for me was a big thing and for me to develop in my career was to be playing first-team football and to play regularly.

“The Colchester manager Hayden Mullins showed a very big interest which I appreciate and when we saw that, we obviously assessed options with the Fulham manager and we figured that this was the best option to come here and help Colchester get and win promotion and to also develop my loan further.

“It’s important for me to get a good relationship with the players and the fans and just to build game by game and step by step and put in some good performances for the fans and help the club get back up in the pyramid of English football.”

Jasper, 19, progressed through the ranks at Fulham and has been a regular performer for their under-23 and under-18 sides, over the years.

The teenage attacker, who can operate on either flank or be deployed in a central role, scored eight goals in 16 appearances for the Cottagers under-23s last season.

Jasper made his senior debut for Fulham in January 2020 when he featured in their FA Cup tie against Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium.

He went on to appear twice in the Championship, against Brentford and Birmingham City and was named on the bench for Fulham’s final Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

Jasper, who signed a new contract with Fulham in August 2020 until the summer of 2023, last month spent time with League One side Sheffield Wednesday on trial.
