A woman has died following a fire at a bungalow in West Mersea.
Four crews from West Mersea, Colchester and Tiptree were called to Kingsland Road, West Mersea, at about 10.45am on Wednesday.
The fire was extinguished by 11.27am, however, a stretch of the road, between Barfield Road and Yorick Road, remained closed whilst emergency services are at the scene.

Police have now confirmed a woman in her 70s sadly died at the scene.
A spokesman said: "A woman has died following a fire at a bungalow in Kingsland Road, West Mersea.
"We were contacted by the fire service shortly before 11am today, Wednesday 30 June.
"Sadly a woman aged in her 70s died at the scene.
"At this stage, her death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
"Our officers are working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire."
