RESIDENTS have been advised to avoid the area as firefighters have closed part of a busy road due to a bungalow blaze.
Four crews from West Mersea, Colchester and Tiptree were called to Kingsland Road, West Mersea, at about 10.45am on Wednesday.
The blaze was extinguished by 11.27am, however, a stretch of the road, between Barfield Road and Yorick Road, has been closed temporarily whilst emergency services are at the scene.

A spokesman for Essex Fire Service said: "Please avoid the area if possible and take extra care at school pick-up time.
"Mersea Island School has let parents know about alternative arrangements at collection time."
A fire investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire.
