A DAMAGED speed sign on a busy road in Colchester has finally been fixed... but is now the wrong way around.
The sign, in Berechurch Hall Road near the junction with Maypole Green Road, had been lying on the ground for months.
After concerns were raised by ward councillor Dave Harris (Lab, Berechurch) the sign has now been reinstated.
However, Mr Harris and eagled-eyed residents have spotted a potentially dangerous flaw with the sign.
He said: "I have been complaining for months about the sign laying on the ground.
"Today there was good news as they put the 30 miles per hour and 40 miles per hour speed sign in.
"But no, a resident and I spotted it had been put in back to front.
"I would urge any one who gets a speed ticket for doing the stated 40 miles per hour, when really it is a 30 miles per hour limit needs to appeal."
