COUNCILLORS have called for urgent repairs to a craterous hole in the road which is "settling more and more each day".
Dave Harris and Lee Scordis have asked Essex Highways to repair the road defect, which is at Mersea Road's junction with Berechurch Road in Colchester, on numerous occasions.
They believe the hole in the road is sinking rapidly and may be a sinkhole.

Mr Harris (Lab, Maypole) said: "It is now becoming even more urgent and settling more and more each day.
"It is causing lots of cars and bikes to swerve.
"There have been repeated attempts to repair it.
"Lee and I have reported it many times but no work has been done at the right place."
An Essex Highways spokesman said the defect had been inspected and the reinstatement of the road had sunk.
He added: "We are planning work to repair it and in the meantime will continue to monitor the road at this point.”
