AN ingenuitive resident has made the most of a flurry of snowfall across north Essex - by creating a six and-a-half foot tall igloo.

Dan Hickman has created the igloo on a strip of open space in Britannia Crescent, Wivenhoe.

He has help from his neighbours Brooklyn, 16, and Beau, 11.

It stands more than six foot tall and is believed to be made out of more almost 10,000 litres of snow.

Mr Hickman said: "I used a 110 litre storage bin to compress the snow into blocks.

"It roughly has around 80 to 90 blocks so that works out to be around 9,900 litres of snow in blocks not including the added snow to secure it."

Residents have reacted with glee to Mr Hickman's creation, with a post on social media going viral.

He said: "They're also people coming from around Wivenhoe to see it apparently its being sent around WhatsApp groups from people I've never heard of."

Mr Hickman plans to sleep in the igloo to raise money for Colchester Foodbank.
