A BUSY McDonald's restaurant has undergone a deep clean after more than one member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.
The fast food giant has confirmed a "small number" of employees at its Tollgate restaurant, in Tollgate West, Stanway, have tested positive for Covid-19.
The staff in question have been told to self-isolate along with any other employees working at the restaurant who may have been in contact with them.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said: “A small number of employees at our Tollgate restaurant have recently tested positive for Covid-19 and immediately self-isolated.
"As soon as we became aware, the restaurant was given an enhanced clean and we contacted all restaurant employees to inform them.
"A small number of our restaurant team have also been asked to self-isolate in line with government guidelines.
"The safety of our people is our absolute priority and we have a number of safety measures in place to help keep our people safe, including Perspex screens, temperature checks at the start of each shift, maintaining a two metre distance from others as much as possible, face coverings, regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.”
Coronavirus cases were also reported amongst staff at both the Stanway McDonald's and one of the chain's other restaurants in Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, back in November.
