A MCDONALD'S restaurant in Colchester underwent a deep clean after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.
The fast food restaurant, in Cowdray Avenue, also instructed a number of staff to self isolate.
One member of staff reported the manager received the positive test for the virus halfway through a shift on Wednesday, November 4.
A McDonald's spokesman confirmed the staff member received the positive result after taking part in a voluntary trial, and had not been experiencing any symptoms associated with the virus.
He added: “Last week, an employee at our Colchester Pool restaurant tested positive for Covid-19 and immediately self-isolated.
"The restaurant was given an enhanced clean as a precaution and we contacted all restaurant employees, a number of whom are also self-isolating in line with government guidelines.
"We have a number of safety measures in place to help keep our people safe, including Perspex screens, temperature checks at the start of each shift, maintaining a two metre distance from others as much as possible, face coverings, regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.”
