EXCELLENT conditions saw a large field of members from all sections turn out for the Captain's Day event at Playgolf Colchester.

Trevor Hollingsworth (19) showed good form to win the division one competition, totalling a superb 42 points.

He also receives a two-shot handicap cut.

Dave Gooding (23) beat the in-form John Cosgrove (24) to second place, on countback, thanks to his better back nine score, after both carded 41 points.

Paul Marsh (14) and Glen Saunders (16) can feel unlucky not to feature after both carded 40 points.

Meanwhile, ideal conditions saw a good field enter the popular Playgolf Seniors' Texas Scramble.

With only two prize positions, the team of Steve Loran, Keith Murray and John Cashman rose to the challenge to take the honours with an outstanding score of 60.6.

Will Elder, Cliff Sturley and Jeff Coles took the runner-up spot on 65.3.

A Playgolf seniors team played away to Rivenhall Oaks in sunny conditions and enjoyed the revamped course.

They managed to defend a handsome advantage from their home win.

The match was expected to be a closer affair away and so it was with Rivenhall winning on the day but falling short of the total over the two legs for an outright win based on Hambro scoring.

Linda Smith took the top spot in division one with a very impressive nett 71 in the Ladies’ September Medal competition.

She beat her nearest rival, Carol Farrance, by four shots.

Gina Macmillan took third, a further shot off the pace on 76.

In division two, Janet Blackmore also had a substantial win with her nett 73.

Linda Dundon took second place, on nett 76, to pip Shirley Birkin into third place by a shot.

In division one of the September Stableford, Prasada Best snatched victory on countback from Carol Farrance after both players recorded 27 points.

Roz Cole was one shot off the pace in third.

Pauline Coxon carded 34 points to take first prize in division two, closely followed by Janet Blackmore on 33 points and Linda Dundon in third place on 27 points.
