Tiptree Road Runner Roger Duffield, who is 70 later this year, completed a remarkable sequence of seven races in seven days.

Following a five kilometre, five mile and trail race, he began the four-day Tour of Terling with an 8.5 mile trail race.

Jim Slater and Malcolm Bailey were first home for the club in one hour 25 minutes 30 seconds, followed closely by Duffield in 1h 25m 50s.

Carolyn Bownes and Barry Dobson completed the course in 1h 45m 21s.

The second day’s five mile trail race saw Roger Duffield finish in 46m 58s, followed by Carolyn Bownes and Barry Dobson in 58m 44s.

The 4.5 mile multi-terrain race on day three included four crossings of a deep ford.

Duffield, the oldest competitor in the event, ran 35m 22s and completed the tour with a two by one-mile time trial in 15m 07s on the final day to finish tenth overall in the series and win the V60 category.

On Wednesday, Dawn Shilling travelled to the Sudbury Joggers Five to make her club debut at the distance in 44m 39s, an encouraging performance considering she had run a 5.6 mile club race the day before.

Simon Morgan returned to the track at Chelmsford to run his first 1,500 metres for almost 15 years, finishing the Eastern Vets event in 5m 5s.

At the second Orion Forest Five, Simon Morgan improved his previous time in the series by ten seconds to finish in 32.35 and move up two places to 17th in a field of some 250 runners.

The off-road event was run in extremely hot conditions and puts Simon in third place overall in the V40 category with one race to go.

The High Ongar 10K was also run in very hot humid conditions.

Rob Hadgraft finished in 49m 7s, followed by Matt Kett in 49m 20s.

Dawn Shilling made her club debut at 10K with a time of around 56 minutes.

In the Carreras Canter, the second race in the Three Tenors trail series, Duffield finished the ten-mile course in 1h 48m 47s, followed by Carolyn Bownes and Barry Dobson in 2h 13m 44s.
