COLCHESTER and Tendring Athletic Club siblings Grace and Alfie Kelway secured top-five finishes in the Essex Pentathlon at Thurrock.
Grace, taking part in her first under-13 pentathlon, produced a personal best (PB) of 16.8 seconds in the 70 metres hurdles.
She also claimed PBs in the long jump (3.29 metres), shot putt (5.15m) and high jump (1.05m).
And despite not securing a PB in the 800m, she won her heat in a time of two minutes 56s.
Despite suffering from a heavy cold, she nevertheless finished with a points total of 1171 to finish fifth in Essex in a field of 18 competitors.
Alfie began his challenge with a joint-second place in the 80m hurdles, clocking 12.5s.
He managed a PB of 8.59m in the shot putt and then performed well in the high jump, long jump and 800m to finish fourth in Essex with a total points haul of 2,091.
