WITH just a week left of the Clacton and District League season, the destination of the division two title is still in doubt.
Buoyed by the absence of Richard Spence from Lawford’s line-up, current leaders Brotherhood C completed their programme by beating the out-of-towners 6-4.
There were three wins for Gary Stallwood, two for Kevin Pryor and one for Lawrence Torr, while Paul Hewitt’s two for Lawford included an 11-5, 15-13, 13-15, 6-11, 11-7 victory over Torr.
The result means Brotherhood C, on 179 points, are definitely promoted, ahead of Brotherhood D, who, on 175, had already finished their matches.
But with Nomads Ocelots on 170 points, and a match still to play, the title and second promotion place is yet to be decided.
This week the Ocelots did their cause no harm when they beat bottom side Windsor Magpies 9-1, with Brian Parish and Peter Giles undefeated.
So the Ocelots go into their final match against Brotherhood I knowing six points will guarantee them promotion – and a full ten points will see them crowned as champions.
