BRAINTREE Town manager Robbie Garvey wants to involve his reserve players more in the first team set-up next season.

The Iron boss was surprised to learn that some of the club’s second string players were not eligible to play in Blue Square South, upon taking over as boss at Cressing Road earlier this month.

The Braintree squad was down to its bare bones for the derby with rivals Chelmsford City on Monday, with the likes of first-team regulars Louis Riddle, Mark Jones and Brad Quinton all missing.

Garvey wants to have the option of calling up his reserve team players next season, should the need arise.

He said: “Our main frustration is the lack of players available.

“It’s something I will change - the reserve team players will sign so that we can have them available when we need them.”

Braintree travel to play St Albans City tomorrow, in their penultimate game in Blue Square South.
