HARWICH and Parkeston boss Mark Morsley has urged his side to cut out individual errors – if they want to finish this season on a positive note.

The Shrimpers hit the self-destruct button in Monday’s 6-1 Ridgeons League premier division hammering at Dereham.

They made a succession of errors which proved extremely costly.

Now Morsley has warned that there can be no repeats in the last two games of the season, away to CRC tomorrow and then at Woodbridge on May 2.

“We were stuffed,” he told the Gazette, reflecting on his side’s setback at Aldiss Park.

“There’s no getting away from that fact but it was all about us making individual mistakes, which is indicative of the fact we’ve had to make so many changes in terms of personnel.

“We were 3-0 down at half-time when, quite frankly, we could have been winning 4-3.

“Two of their goals stemmed from our errors, while we missed four good chances at the other end.

“In the second half we started very well and made it 3-1.

“We were still creating chances and were on top for a stage, but then another mistake allowed them to score again.

“After that it was game over.

“Dereham were a very good side and at times their pace and movement was too much for us.

“But it could have been so different and we’ve got to make sure we cut out those mistakes if we’re to finish the season on a bright note.”

Harwich are third from bottom in the premier division, five points clear of Norwich United.

Basement boys Haverhill are nine points adrift of the Tendring side.

“At the moment it’s still slightly unclear how many sides will go down, due to league restructuring, but I think we’ll be alright because I’m confident we’ll get something from our last game at Woodbridge,” added Morsley.

Elsewhere in the premier division, Tiptree United were brought down to earth on Wednesday night when they lost 2-1 at Needham Market.

They now have two home games in a row, starting with tomorrow’s date with Woodbridge.

Stanway Rovers are at home to Leiston tomorrow while Julian Dicks’ Wivenhoe Town have a match against Kirkley and Pakefield at Broad Lane.
