Despite going into tomorrow’s game on the back of a 6-0 drubbing, Harwich and Parkeston manager Mark Morsley has declared himself happy with how his tenure at The Royal Oak club is going.

The Shrimpers have climbed away from the relegation zone in the Ridgeons League premier division and were moving towards mid-table following four wins on the trot when last week’s heavy loss to Whitton United put a spanner in the works.

However, Morsley told the Gazette he is not concerned by events in that match and is satisfied with how his side are progressing.

He said: “It was disappointing and the difficulty is we have not settled down to a pattern of play yet.

“But if someone had said to me that after eight games we would be where are I would be happy.

“I certainly don’t feel we are relegation candidates.”

Harwich go to Felixstowe and Walton tomorrow, with the hosts buoyed by their 5-3 drubbing of Stanway Rovers during midweek.

On paper, it looks like a game which will provide goals.

Morsley said he was pleased not to have a midweek game as Harwich’s pitch could do with a rest and it gave him the chance to work with his players to put right the wrongs of last weekend.

He said: “If we had had a game on Tuesday at home I don’t think we would have played as it was very heavy.

“I’m glad we haven’t had a midweek game, though, as it gives me the chance to have a couple of sessions with the players.”
