MALDON TOWN did their Essex neighbours Wivenhoe a favour with a 5-3 win at Waltham Forest.
Maldon had to change their team as leading scorer Steve Wareham had left to join East Thurrock so Jamie Ricks went into the line up.
They led from a penalty when Matt Cutchey was brought down and Ross Parmenterconverted and increased their lead two minutes later, when Ricks headed home.
Kevin Hawes added a third following a goal by the Stags, who made it 3-2 on 37 minutes.
However, within a minute Maldon were awarded a free-kick, which was taken by James Robinson and Frankie Everitt regained the two-goal advantage.
It was reduced to one on 77 minutes when Gazmead Davti's close-range shot gave Darren Gould no chance, but in the last minute, Hawes tapped in to give Maldon the well-deserved three points.
