BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT brought the curtain down on their maiden Bostik League premier division campaign with a dramatic 2-2 draw at Worthing.
All the goals came in the second half - and there were also two red cards.
Aaron Condon put Regent ahead after 68 minutes but the hosts quickly equalised through George Barker.
Sam Rents then thought he had grabbed Worthing's winner - only for top-scorer Billy Hunt to slot home a 90th-minute penalty, after a foul on Condon.
In an amazing finale, Regent had just been reduced to nine men after red cards for James Love and Josh Gould.
Brightlingsea finished 20th - an impressive 12 points clear of the one and only relegation place, occupied by Tooting and Mitcham United.
In division north, HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS, already assured of a play-off place, finished with a 2-1 victory at home to ten-man Soham Town Rangers.
Both of Swifts' goals came in the first half, scored by Luke Callander and Juan Luque.
Heybridge will now meet fourth-placed Haringey Borough in the play-offs, at the latter's North London ground on Wednesday, May 2.
Bowers and Pitsea and Canvey Island will contest the other match on the same evening, with the final set to take place on Sunday, May 6.
MALDON AND TIPTREE finished seventh, just outside the play-offs, after a 4-2 defeat at Romford.
Lee Barnard scored both their goals, in the ninth and 83rd minutes.
WITHAM TOWN finished 11th but will have been disappointed to end with a 2-0 defeat at home to Tilbury.
