STANWAY Rovers grabbed another Thurlow Nunn League premier division win.
Visiting Long Melford lost out 2-1 at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.
Craig Hughes opened the scoring for Stanway from the penalty spot.
But Melford equalised for a half-time 1-1 score-line.
But Stanway came back after the interval with a goal from Terry Rymer to seal the win.
In the Essex Senior Cup round one, it was heartbreak for division rivals FC Clacton.
After a goal-less 90 minutes at Saffron Walden Town, the Seasiders went out following a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat.
