Braintree Town were denied a share of the spoils as a late goal saw them fall to a defeat.

The Iron welcomed Kidderminster Harriers to the Amlin Stadium for their Skrill Premier encounter.

It was the visitors who left with all three points with a 1-0 win thanks to an 89th minute goal from skipper Kyle Storer.

Harriers had the upper hand in the first half with most of the possession.

However, Braintree did have their chances and Daniel Holman fired a shot on target but it was held on to by Harriers keeper Daniel Lewis on 23 minutes.

Harriers, though, had the bulk of the play.

Harriers’ Anthony Malbon turned Dean Wells and went passed him only to be dragged back leading to a yellow card for Wells.

The resultant free-kick saw the ball go wide of the far post with the keeper beaten.

However, the Braintree defence was holding firm under Harriers pressure.

A shot by Harriers’ Gowling went over the bar on 33 minutes.

Seven minutes later a Storer free-kick saw Cheyenne Dunkley head narrowly wide.

After the break, Braintree produced some pressure to earn a free-kick on the edge of the box but Sam Habergham’s effort was cleared by Gowling.

Braintree broke again and a Kenny Davis shot was parried by Lewis in the Harriers goal on 53 minutes.

Harriers started to come more into the game and Malbon had a shot deflected for a corner.

The second half was a scrappier affair than the first with few real chances being created and it looked as if the game was going to finish goalless.

But, in the 89th minute, Kyle Storer got on the end of a good cross to power a header into the back of the net to grab the win.
