5:56pm Saturday 22nd December 2012 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
New recruit - Jack Compton, pictured in action here playing for Bradford City, has joined the U's from Portsmouth.
Colchester United have signed pacy attacker Jack Compton from League One rivals Portsmouth.
Compton, 24, who is a pacy left winger who can also play in attack, has made 13 appearances for Pompey this season and played against the U's earlier this season.
Compton, who was born in Wales, has also played for the likes of Bradford City, St Johnstone and Falkirk during his career.
Colchester boss Joe Dunne has also confirmed that loan duo Jabo Ibehre and Josh Thompson have been offered permanent deals at the club.

I must admit, I can't ever remember an announcement of a new signing after a match. That's a new one on me.

crazycomments, I agree Benson is a good player but he's scored none in four for Portsmouth, so that hasn't exactly worked for them, has it.

I would like to say that I cannot believe what I am reading above, but with you mob, nothing suprises me.
Giving Dunne and the lads a hard time is understandable with the current situation, but the welcome that he is getting on here is just nasty and rude.
everyone had written off Cureton when we signed him, and look what happened.

The trouble is I cant see him being anything better than what we already have at the club. Joe is showing some signs of desperation now, and for me signing two quality players over five run of the mill players would be a better option.
Nice one Dunne, a well needed winger. I hope he does a brilliant job, all we need now is a forward that can actually shoot towards goal, so at least we can score some goals.

Watt and Eastmond were well-spotted talents, so let's give the guy a chance
