Duo told they can leave Colchester
3:00pm Thursday 6th December 2012 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
Pastures new - Tom Bender has been told he can leave Colchester United in January.
Tom Bender and Bradley Hamilton have been told they can leave Colchester United in January.
The young defensive duo, who are currently on loan at Blue Square Bet South side Chelmsford City, have been informed by U's boss Joe Dunne that they are surplus to requirements at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Dunne said: "Bradley and Tom aren't going to get into my first team and they're at an age now where they need to start making careers for themselves.
"Their honesty, commitment and hard work at our club has been great and we wish both of them well."

Spot on with your decision Joe. However I do feel sorry for the two lads, because their dreams have now been shattered. What they both need to do now, is try and force themselves into a lower league team,so they are playing on a regular basis. Who knows then, they may prove people wrong. I did think once Bradley was going to make it, but I do feel he never got the break under Ward and slipped back in his progress. With Tom he has not got the physique to be a defender playing in this league & I have always thought he should have considerd playing in another position. I blogged on here early last season after watching for the very first time another young unknown lad in the reserves. Soon as I saw him play I knew he was sheer talent and one for the future. Im glad to say that Joe has included him in the squad for Saturday. Good luck Drey.
