Nathan Oduwa has to learn how to be effective for the team during his loan spell at Colchester United, according to boss Kevin Keen.
The on-loan Spurs youngster produced a lively display after coming off the bench shortly after half-time, in the U’s 2-0 defeat at Port Vale, last weekend.
Oduwa, who spent time on loan at Glasgow Rangers earlier in the season, is still waiting for his first Colchester start after arriving at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on a month’s loan.
And Keen says the 20-year-old winger needs to understand how to make an impact for the U’s, as they battle to move off the bottom of League One.
Keen said: “Nathan likes to have the ball at his feet.
“There’s a big difference between looking like a player and being a player and that’s what he’s got to learn.
“He’s got to be able to beat people and get balls into the box and be effective for the team.
“There were two or three things he did OK (against Port Vale) but that’s not enough.”
