TRIALLIST Elliot Parish has signed a one-year deal at Colchester United.

The U’s have been running the rule over the former Blackpool and Bristol City goalkeeper and he was given another run-out in Tuesday’s 1-0 victory against West Ham.

Colchester are short of cover, with Sam Walker still recovering from a knee injury and James Bransgrove likely to be out until September.

And now the club have confirmed that he has signed a one-year contract.

“We gave him 90 minutes to see what he could do against West Ham," said boss Tony Humes, speaking after the Hammers game.

“He wasn’t really tested, but his distribution was good and he looked calm and composed with what he had to do."
