Joe Dunne wants Colchester United to be the pride of Essex next season.

The U’s boss insisted that the county’s Saxon seaxes appeared on the club’s new home shirt, which was unveiled yesterday at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester will display the name of Weston Homes on their home shirts next season, after agreeing a two-year sponsorship deal with the development company.

Dunne has had plenty of input in how both the U’s home and away shirts will look this season.

And with the U’s currently the highest-ranked professional football club in Essex, having the county blades proudly displayed on their kit was one of his main requirements.

Dunne said: “I want to make sure that Colchester United is flying the flag for Essex."
