O'Toole reunited with former boss Ward

Colchester United midfielder John-Joe O'Toole has joined League Two strugglers Bristol Rovers on a month's loan.

The tough-tackling U's midfielder has been reunited with his former Colchester boss John Ward, who took over from Mark McGhee at the Memorial Stadium.

O'Toole, 24, has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

He started the season in Ward's starting line-up, helping them claim a 0-0 draw at Preston North End on the opening day of the campaign.

But the former Watford player has started only one match under new boss Joe Dunne, the 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth earlier this month.

Im very disappointed at this. He is one of my favourite players and in my opinion should be in the team. He works hard for the team and is a no nonsense player, something we need right now.

Well he is only on loan, so who knows, maybe he will score lots of goals for his old boss, and save Bristol Rovers from relegation. And he will still be ours, so we either sell him for a good price or we bring him back to finish the job of rescuing us.

Hopefully this is the start of a clear out. We are in desperate need to get rid of the dead wood and bring in fresh blood who will give 100% to give us a chance of staying up.

Agree with honest there's a lot of players that I'd ship out but JJ is not one.
Hopefully dunne can get a decent replacement

John-Joe O'Toole was a proven player for Watford in The Championship hitting 10 goals in 57 games.

I can only assume injuries have set him back in his career at WHCS, a great shame.

I think it was John who scored against us for Watford ( a header at the Layer Road end ) when Watford came back from 2-0 down to beat us 3-2.

He looked a good player to me at the time, and has done since.

I hope he returns after the loan and gets back in the side.

Well he has gone to Rovers for either.

A) match fitness, and will return ready to go or injured.

B) Because Dunne does not feel he can afford to have one of our biggest earners not playing regardless of how good his potential is.

The lad's played 90 minutes today in a win against Plymouth in front of over 7,000 fans.

A better day than warming the bench at Crawley.
