Colchester United are today standing proudly as the kings of East Anglian football for the first time in almost half-a-century.
The U's are deservedly leading the way ahead of Ipswich Town, Southend and Norwich City in the Coca-Cola Championship.
It was on Wednesday, May 1, 1957 when the Layer Road boys last enjoyed the East Anglian bragging rights as they topped the old Division Three (South) table.
And ecstatic U's chief executive Marie Partner said: "It's an incredible feeling. Let's make the most of it."
