England under-21 boss Stuart Pearce admitted his side’s 5-0 win over Iceland flattered them somewhat.
The Young Lions cruised to victory in their European Championship Group Eight qualifier, in front of a sell-out crowd of 10, 051 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Goals from Marvin Sordell, Martin Kelly, Craig Dawson and a brace from substitute Gary Gardner gave England a big win.
Pearce said: “I was disappointed at the half-time stage and I felt we played within ourselves in the first half.
“We didn’t really take the game by the scruff of the neck but in the second half, we were a lot better.
“Overall, it was a fantastic result – I think it flattered us a little bit but we did have a lot of chances and I’m delighted with the clean sheet.
“There were also one or two fresh faces to come into the squad and they’ve done themselves no harm at all.”
