England under-21s will train at the Weston Homes Community Stadium again today, in readiness for their sell-out clash against Iceland.

Coach Stuart Pearce has been forced to make changes to his squad for the European Championship qualifier, which takes place at Colchester United FC tomorrow night (kick-off 7.30pm).

Former Colchester schoolboy Connor Wickham pulled out of the squad after suffering a knee injury playing for Sunderland against Manchester United, last Saturday.

Middlesbrough’s Alex Nimely, currently on loan from Manchester City also withdrew, while Everton’s Jack Rodwell was called up by Fabio Capello for the senior team, ahead of their friendlies against Spain and Sweden.

Middlesbrough defender Joe Bennett, Manchester United’s Will Keane and Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi have all been called up as replacements.

Despite the withdrawal of the likes of Wickham and Rodwell, the England under-21 squad still features plenty of young Premier League stars.

Arsenal’s £12million wonderkid Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - who scored for former club Southampton against the U’s at the Community Stadium last season in League One - is expected to start.

And Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and Martin Kelly, along with the likes of Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso and Tom Carroll of Spurs, are also set to feature.

England’s game against Iceland at the Community Stadium is the first of two important games for the Young Lions.

Following the Group Eight encounter, the squad then travel to play Belgium on Monday for their fifth and final qualifier of 2011.

Pearce’s side currently lie top of the table as they bid to qualify for the finals which take place in Israel, in 2013.

Tickets for tomorrow night’s under-21 qualifier between England and Iceland sold out several weeks ago.

Spectators have been urged to arrive early for the game and the official club car park is sold out.

However, the U’s will be running a full matchday travel service and there will be a full shuttle bus service from across the town, priced at £1.50 return.
