Kayode Odejayi is hoping his brace against Notts County will help him recapture his place in Colchester United's starting line-up.
The powerful striker came off the bench to score two late goals for the U's and help them secure a 2-1 win over Notts County.
Odejayi has not started in npower League One for Colchester since the opening day of the season and had not previously scored since February.
However, the 28-year-old has now targeted a return to the U's team for their trip to play high-flying Bournemouth this weekend, following his two-goal salvo.
Odejayi said: “Hopefully I've given the manager something to think about and if selected next week, I'll hope to carry on in the same way.
“But if I find myself on the bench again, I'll be ready and waiting to come on."
