Colchester United manager John Ward felt his side lacked a cutting edge in drawing 1-1 with Plymouth Argyle.

Andy Bond headed the U's into the lead midway through the first half at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, in the npower League One clash.

But Plymouth skipper Reda Johnson equalised and although Colchester had their chances, they were unable to secure a winner.

Nevertheless, the draw extends the U's unbeaten league run to six matches.

Ward said: “We've done a lot of good things in the game and we've played against a good side.

“But we've stood up to them and we've now gone six matches without a defeat.

“We're tough to beat but we have to finish off our forward moves.

“We just haven't quite been clinical enough in the first six league games to give us a point or two more.

“Plymouth raised their game after half-time because we had the best of that first period.

“It was pretty even in the second half and they scored early, which put us on the back foot.

“The equaliser knocked us back a little bit but maybe the only time I was bothered was in the last ten minutes, when strangely enough they had a player sent off.

“It was pleasing to get a goal from a set play but we were disappointed to concede one.

“We said at half-time that their biggest threat was the long throw and sure enough, that's what happened."
