Colchester United played out their third successive home 1-1 draw after sharing the spoils with Plymouth Argyle this afternoon.

The U's extended their unbeaten league run to six matches at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester had much the better of the first half, with Plymouth failing to muster a single shot on target before half-time.

Pilgrims keeper David Button saved Marc Tierney's long-range effort early on, before the U's took the lead through Andrew Bond's header from Anthony Wordsworth's corner, midway through the first half.

It was Bond's fourth goal in six league matches and the U's threatened to score again before the break, with Wordsworth and David Mooney both going close.

But Plymouth were back on level terms within three minutes of the second half when their captain Reda Johnson swept in from close range from Kari Arnason's corner, after the U's had failed to clear their lines.

Plymouth were reduced to ten men with four minutes to go when Lee Molyneux received a second yellow card for a foul on David Perkins.

But after a frantic final few minutes the U's were unable to capitalise and John Ward's side had to settle for a point.
