Mark Cousins will start between the sticks for Colchester United against Plymouth Argyle tomorrow - despite Ben Williams’ return to fitness.
Cousins, 23, has kept goal for the U’s in every game so far this season, after Williams suffered an ankle injury in pre-season.
Williams played 90 minutes for Colchester’s reserve side in their 3-0 defeat at Stevenage, on Wednesday night.
However, last season’s U’s player of the year will not dislodge Cousins from the number one perch for tomorrow’s visit of the Pilgrims.
Colchester manager John Ward said: “Ben is ready but Mark will start tomorrow.
“He deserves to, because he has done very well.
“Mark has impressed me very much, particularly after the Sunderland game.
“I’ve learnt a lot about him."
