Jamie Cureton is hoping a good pre-season will mean plenty of goals for him in his first full campaign as a Colchester United striker.

The U's front runner was an instant success when he joined the Layer Road side on loan for two months from Swindon Town last year.

He played ten games and struck seven goals and the former Reading and QPR goal-getter has already set his targets for the coming campaign, but he's keeping them close to his chest.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's first pre-season friendly at Heybridge Swifts, he said: "I've got my aims for the season, but I like to keep them to myself.

"I'm looking forward to getting started, though.

"Because I was on loan last season it has been easy for me to settle in straight away and I haven't had to get to know or learn anything."
