Colchester United’s head of youth Tony Humes believes the club has the foundations to produce more home-grown stars.
And if they prove their worth, their talented youngsters will be given opportunities to shine at first-team level.
The likes of Tom Bender and Craig Arnott have both been recognised in U’s first-team squads this season, under manager Aidy Boothroyd.
And the fledgling players have featured regularly for both Colchester’s reserves side and in their Essex Senior Cup run.
They are hoping to follow in the footsteps of the likes of current first-team regulars Anthony Wordsworth and John White.
