Tom Bender has been handed a professional contract at Colchester United.
The young defender, who became the second youngest-ever player to represent the U's when he made his debut against Hartlepool United last September, has penned a two-and-a-half year deal with the club.
Bender has progressed through the ranks at Colchester and will be hoping to force his way into manager Aidy Boothroyd's first-team plans between now and the end of the season.
