Roy Keane has admitted it is unlikely he will make any new loan signings before the transfer window closes.

But he says there is more chance of one of his players leaving Portman Road.

The loan window closes at the end of this month and, asked if he is more likely to wait and reinforce his squad in January, Keane said: “Yes, probably.

“I've spoken to one manager over the last few days, but if there's any movement at our club in the next few days, before the deadline, it might be players going out on loan.

“I don't imagine any players will be coming in. I'd be very surprised.

“We're still waiting on feedback from one club about a defender, but I want to concentrate on getting the balance of my squad right.

“There's one or two players coming back from injury and I don't want to over-load it.”

Keane – whose side have a Championship date at Reading tomorrow - said he was still interested in signing Senegalese-born triallist Ibrahima Faye.

However, nothing is likely to be completed until after the window closes.

“We're keen on the boy and think he's a decent player,” said the Irishman.

“But there's still a lot of work to be done in terms of work permits and passports.

“We're still trying to get to the bottom of that.

“I'm sure the paperwork will drag on for another two or three weeks and then it'll be too late.”
