Liam Rosenior is not one for sentiment.

The Ipswich Town loanee returns to his ‘home’ club tomorrow, when the Blues do battle with fellow Championship strugglers Reading.

But far from going back in nostalgic, reflective mood, Rosenior is looking to the future – a future away from the Madejski Stadium.

The defender’s contract is up at the end of the season and he admits he has almost certainly played his last game for the Royals.

He wants to move on and play in the Barclays Premier League – something he would love to do with Ipswich.

“My contract’s up and I’m not going to be there next season,” he said.

“When you leave a club it’s always hard going back. You want to have new experiences.

“I’m disappointed (with the way things have gone at Reading).

“We got relegated (from the Barclays Premier League).

“Then we should have gone up last season, with the squad we had.

“But we dropped out in the play-offs, so my time there was disappointing. I can’t say I had two great years there because I didn’t.

“I’m an honest person and I don’t see my career carrying on there.

“I want to push on and play at a higher level next year.

“I’ve made no bones about that and being a free agent gives me a great chance of doing that.”
