Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd will make changes to his starting line-up at Bromley tomorrow.

The U’s boss is definitely without midfielder Anthony Wordsworth, who serves a one-match suspension after picking up five yellow cards.

And loanee Josh Payne will not play, as his parent club West Ham United do not want the youngster to be cup-tied.

Simon Hackney is in line for a left-midfield role in place of Wordsworth, at Hayes Lane.

And David Fox is set to replace Payne, with Kem Izzet still suffering the effects of a virus.

Boss Boothroyd could also be tempted to hand Steven Gillespie his first start of the season in attack.

The striker scored Colchester’s winner in their 1-0 win over Ilford in the Essex Senior Cup third round in midweek.

Boothroyd said: “It’s a good chance for me to mix one or two things up, in what we expect to be a very tough game.

“The good thing is that we have a competitive environment and someone like David Fox has scored three goals in two games.

“He can come in straight away no problem and if he does get his chance, he can grab it.”

The U’s will also be able to call upon loan quartet Kevin Lisbie, Kayode Odejayi, John-Joe O’Toole and Danny Batth, who are all eligible to play.

Boothroyd said he would like to keep all of his loanees until at least the end of the season.

And he said he is still hopeful of keeping Lisbie past January - despite Ipswich Town’s desire to recall the striker.

“Kevin is responding well to us - he likes the environment and being at Colchester and he has done fantastic for us,” said Boothroyd.

“The fact that Ipswich have said that they will have him back is in the future.

“What I have got to do is see if I can do something which keeps him as a Colchester player until the end of the season.

“I’ll do my work behind the scenes to see if we can get the other players in, because we have a really good group here.”
