Roy Keane believes Ipswich Town's long-suffering fans are more patient than any others “on the planet”.

The Blues are rock bottom of the Coca-Cola Championship, heading into this afternoon's crunch battle at fellow strugglers Plymouth.

They are also still win-less after 13 games, having conceded a last-gasp leveller in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Watford.

“The fans appreciate how well the players are playing,” said Keane.

“They've shown their support and we're very thankful for that.

“I don't think any other supporters on this planet would stay so patient.

“It's pretty strange for a team to go 13 games without a win, concede another late goal and yet still get clapped off, as they did on Tuesday.

“Credit to them for that. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't happen at any other club in the world.”

Keane believes his side can take great heart and encouragement from Tuesday's match against the Hornets.

But the one thing missing is the ability to take advantage of their chances – something they must remedy at Home Park.

“We need to stay focused and get that first win,” he said.

“The signs are better but if you don't take your chances you're going to get kicked in the teeth.

“It's encouraging that we're creating openings and that the players are brave enough to get in the right positions.

“They also played with a lot of freedom and confidence.

“But Watford should have been dead and buried on Tuesday.

“We're not talking half-chances – we're talking one-on-ones and free headers.

“They were very good chances.

“We know we need to do better and 13 games without a win is unacceptable, but I've got great faith that things will turn.”

When asked if his side were cursed, Keane added: “Certainly not.

“We're very lucky and this is a challenge.

“We've got an opportunity to turn things round.”

Meanwhile, Keane has admitted he would be open-minded about the prospect of using a sports psychologist or motivational speaker.

He was asked in light of the number of late goals his side have conceded.

In addition to the late heartache against Watford, they also shipped costly goals at Doncaster, Sheffield United and Barnsley.

“I'm very open-minded as a manager and I always like to get feedback from my players and staff,” said Keane.

“It's a step we haven't taken yet but we may consider it.

“Having said that, we have to be very careful who we bring into the club because we're doing a lot of good stuff here.

“If you create 21 chances during a game you're not doing a lot wrong, but we just need to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Jon Walters misses today's game due to a sprained ankle while Connor Wickham is away with England's Under-17s.
