Colchester United ended the season on a high this afternoon with a 2-0 victory at Yeovil Town.

Two goals in as many minutes from Ashley Vincent and Mark Yeates early in the first half were enough to earn the U's victory and help them complete a double over the Glovers, in Coca-Cola League One.

Vincent fired Colchester ahead in the 13th minute, after Yeovil goalkeeper Chris Weale had allowed the Cheltenham loanee's first-time shot from the edge of the area to squirm underneath his body.

And the U's doubled their lead soon after through Yeates, who struck past Weale and into his near post after a patient build-up.

Yeovil improved in the second half and Colchester goalkeeper Dean Gerken pulled off good saves to deny both Jon Obika and Craig Alcock, as the home side pushed for a way back into the game.

But the nearest they came to scoring was when Kieran Murtagh's fierce effort rattled the post, as the U's secured an 11th league away win of the season to round the season off with a victory.
