Colchester United target Jimmy Walker has revealed he would consider returning to the club next season.
The experienced West Ham goalkeeper made a huge impact during his three-month loan spell with the U’s earlier this season.
Walker looks set to quit Upton Park this summer, in search of regular first-team football.
Colchester are one of a number of clubs vying for the keeper’s signature.
And the 35-year-old has left the door open for U’s manager Paul Lambert to make his move.
Walker told the Gazette: “I would definitely not rule out a move to Colchester.
“I had a great time there and it’s a great club.
“I have to weigh everything up. But if I went to Colchester and was playing every week, I’d be happy. Paul Lambert was great with me and I think he will be a top manager.”
Speaking last week, U’s boss Lambert confirmed he is interested in bringing Walker back to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
He said: “There will be contact throughout the summer, but Jimmy may want to go somewhere bigger.
“He did absolutely brilliantly here but I don’t know what his aspirations are, at this moment in time.”
