ASHLEY Vincent is ready to send Hereford United down tomorrow.

The Colchester United loanee regards helping Cheltenham Town stay up last season as one of the highlights of his career to date.

But now Vincent is on the other side of the fence.

And the pacey U’s attacker said he would have no hesitation in helping to condemn the Bulls to relegation back to Coca-Cola League Two.

Vincent said: “We want to get a result and if that means that they go down, then so be it.

“At Cheltenham, it went to the last day last season.

“Luckily, we stayed up by beating Doncaster.

“It’s not a good feeling to be down there. If Hereford do go down tomorrow it will be very disappointing for them, because League One is a much better standard.

“But as far as Colchester are concerned, it’s a side issue.”

Vincent is yet to taste victory in a U’s shirt, following his January loan switch from Cheltenham.

The 23-year-old has started Colchester’s last two games in attack and is likely to play there again at Edgar Street tomorrow.

The former Wolves trainee is anxious to chalk up his first win in a Colchester shirt as quickly as possible, following three successive defeats.

“I just want to win games and I’m desperate to be in a winning Colchester United side,” said Vincent.

“I know that the results have not gone our way but I have enjoyed being in the team.

“When I spoke to Steven Gillespie and Lewis Gobern about Colchester before I joined, they told me that there are some really good players here.

“I’ve seen now that that’s the case.

“My future’s in the manager’s hands.

“But I’d like a permanent deal and I’d love to be at Colchester United next season.”

Striker Karl Hawley has played his last game in a Colchester shirt.

He has returned to Preston North End for treatment on a hamstring injury, with his loan spell due to expire.

U’s manager Paul Lambert has confirmed that he has no interest in signing Hawley, who failed to score in his four games with the U’s, on a permanent basis.

Striker Clive Platt will again be missing for the U’s tomorrow for personal reasons.

And midfielder David Perkins misses out with a knee injury, which is likely to see him sit out the remainder of the season.

Johnnie Jackson (hamstring) and Paul Reid (knee) are long-term injury casualties and striker Steven Gillespie (ankle) is still sidelined.

But defender Pat Baldwin should be available, despite suffering a ankle injury against Brighton.
