Colchester United’s club captain Chris Coyne believes it is vital the U’s put points on the board, as they approach the midway point of the season.

The U’s kick-off a hectic schedule of games tomorrow with a trip to play Leeds United in Coca-Cola League One.

Paul Lambert’s side currently lie 16th in the table, just two points above the relegation zone, However, a good run of results over the Christmas period could propel Colchester into the top half of the table.

After the disappointment of losing to lowly Hereford United last weekend, Coyne wants to help his side bounce back to form.

He told the Gazette: “We’re coming into an important time of the season - everyone knows that.

“It’s imperative that we start picking up points.

“The Hereford game was a setback and that’s all it is.

“But we have had too many setbacks this season.

deterred “We have a good group of lads at Colchester and we’ll never be deterred by one result.”
