As a former Leeds United player, Matt Heath knows all about the level of expectation that weighs heavily at Elland Road.

Images of legendary figures like Billy Bremner and Norman Hunter adorn the walls, pictures from a bygone era when the Whites were the best around.

But times have changed.

The reality is that Leeds are now in Coca-Cola League One, searching for a way to recapture those glory days of yesteryear.

However, the thirst for success remains among fans and club alike.

Colchester United defender Heath spent 16 months at the Yorkshire club, having initially impressed while on loan there from Coventry City.

As he prepares to return to his old stomping ground, the 27-year-old is all too aware of where Leeds have been – and where they want to be in the future.

He said: “It’s a good club with lots of history and nice people working there.

“You can tell that straight away, with all of the pictures around the club.

“As a player there, you know what you have to live up to.

“There’s a lot of expectancy there and I think that we can use that to our advantage tomorrow.

“It’s always nice to go back to a former club and play against some old friends.

“I wasn’t there for a long time but I had a good year and a half there.”
