New boy Jermaine Easter is on a mission.

He wants to rewrite Colchester United’s record books against Leeds United.

Neither he nor the U’s have ever scored at Elland Road – a record the much travelled Plymouth Argyle loanee will be striving to put right on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Welsh international striker told the Gazette: “I’ve never played there before, but I’ve come to Colchester to score goals and win matches and beating Leeds is my only focus now.

“To score at Elland Road would be fantastic.”

The U’s lost there 3-0 in the Coca Cola Championship last season and 4-0 in a Football League Cup, third round tie back in October 1977 – the only times the two clubs have met at Elland Road before.

Easter, who has netted two goals in four outings for the U’s so far and has 224 League and cup games under his belt, said: “When you glance at the fixture list Leeds United at Elland Road is one of the games you look out for.

“Leeds have got all the history and are still looked upon as a big club who play in front of big crowds.

“As a player these are the games you want to be involved in. I always get a good buzz playing in front of the bigger crowds.

“Nobody wants to play in front of the proverbial one man and his dog.

“But like us, Leeds United are a League One club and it’s a game we can go and win.

“When clubs come to the Weston Homes Community Stadium they put so many players behind the ball. At least Leeds will be going forward looking to beat us which could give us space to exploit them.”
