Four Colchester athletes represented the Eastern Counties in their annual cross-country fixture against Cambridge University and the RAF at Magog Downs in Cambridge.

Nicola Rogers, of Runevolve AC, looked strong throughout, running her six-kilometre race with impressive form, and she finished an excellent second in 21 minutes and 28 seconds.

Danielle Tatum, of Colchester and Tendring Athletic Club, worked hard over the hilly course and moved up a gear for a superb fourth in 22m 15s, with both girls in the winning Eastern Counties team.

Colchester and Tendring athlete Becky Adams, in only her second full season at cross-country, continued to make good progress with a creditable 14th in 24m 23s.

In the men’s 10,000m, 18-year-old Lloyd Heard distinguished himself well in his first race over this distance with a blisterning finish to seventh place, the second Eastern Counties runnner to finish, which earned praise from team manager Paul Evans.
